The Library of Palanthas Astinus Office
Dominating the center of this room is a massive birch desk. Legend
claims this desk has supported the thousands of volumes of history Astinus
has recorded. A large pot of ink, a container of sharpened quills, and a
candelabra complete the desks decorations. Small windows line the room,
allowing light to trickle in and gently illuminate the entire room. A
comfortable couch rests against the west wall. Tapestries hang on the walls
between the windows. Shelves line the walls, filled with tomes of the more
recent records of heroes and villians upon the face of Krynn.
The librarian notices you aren't reading anything...
Astinus hands a manilla folder to an Aesthetic standing by you.
You note the spine bears the word 'Xanra ' scribed in glowing orange ink.
As you glance down at the page you read...
From the pages of Xanra's book...

Subject Strange, and stranger yet
-------
It was wierd, leaving the comfort of her home to travel to a place she
had never been so that she could learn more about Habbakuk. That, and she
had never been that far from her home. Haven was even farther than she had
thought possible.
He was strange to her. The mask on his face covered his looks, hiding them
from the public eye. And he was rude and uncouth when she had thought he was
from the temple.
Yet he had come and released her from the prison that her parents had sent
her into. And the Matron Mother had allowed her to leave, not realizing that
the strange human knew nothing about her, nor seemed to care what was being
done. Instead he had cleverly lied his way past the "guardian" and had taken
her into the city. Her freedom seemed to lurk before her. And it was
something she wanted.

Subject Lost and taken on the trail
-------
It was a simple task. She was supposed to gather firewood for the camp.
How was she supposed to know that it would be harder work than she had ever
done in her life. Then again, most things were actually work for her.
Pampered and spoiled, Xanra spend her entire life before she ran away from
the temple in Haven at her parents home is Silvanost. She'd had tutors,
maids, and people who did things for her. That was before she had become
bored at the small temple where she'd been sent to further her instruction
in the clerical duties of followers of Habbakuk.
Haven was where she'd seen and met 'him'. He helped her escape from the
temple and from under the watchful eyes of the house matron. He had traveled
and had allowed her to tag with him, not once begrudging her for her lack of
knowledge. In fact, he had offered to show her things and teach her what he
could about travel, camping, and things that she would have never learned in
Silvanost.
It was he who had sent her on the task to pick up fallen wood for a small
fire at the camp. And it was he that she had thought was following her. And
it was her mistake that she had followed the sounds into the woods.
They were ugly, the things that grabbed her and carried her deeper into the
woods. They didn't even have a civilized tongue. They only grunted and made
other strange sounds to each other.
They pulled, carried, and shoved her along with them for at least 6 turns of
the moon. Xanra followed, quiet after the thing which had grabbed her had
backhanded her when she had protested on the first day.
She had no clue where she was. To her, all of her surroundings looked
exactly alike. But this day her captors seemed a bit more agitated than they
were on the other days. They chattered in their gutteral language, seeming
to be excited more than other times. They also kept looking at her, pointing
and hissing in her direction. And because of this, she found herself very
afraid for her life. And for the millionth time in the past few days, she
wished that she had never left the safety of the temples.
